Attendance
Attendance is fundamental to academic success and future opportunities. Studies have shown that students with good attendance are more likely to perform better academically and graduate on time. Improving attendance requires a collaborative effort between parents/caregivers, students, and the school community.
Did You Know?
- According to the National Center for Education Statistics, students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school days) in kindergarten and first grade are much less likely to read proficiently by the end of third grade.
- Similarly, middle school students who are chronically absent have been found to be significantly less likely to perform well in core subjects like math and reading.
- A student missing more than 30 minutes of instruction without an excuse three times during the school year must be classified as a truant and reported to the proper school authority.
